Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in both film, television and the theatre. The most famous of her roles is Teri Joe the fiery lawyer in her role on the Showtime series Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name after her wedding. While growing up living in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always intrigued by acting. In an Maryland high school contest during her first years of training, she was awarded the title for the most outstanding actress. In the years following her involvement in theatre and with "The Washington Ballet Company", she received an acting certificate from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love brought her a first-class role. Films like Blue Streak and Boogie Nights Spark came next. Soul Food received a lot of applause for her performance. She also appeared on TV series like Second Time Around 'and Empire. At the beginning of her career, she was in a variety of stage productions. Parker has been involved in politics, is married to model-actor Boris Kodjoe. They have two children together.

Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and was a resident of Nigeria for seven years, was awash with trips and experiences in the world of culture at very young. After attending boarding schools over seven years London the family moved to Toronto Canada where she lived for much of her early years as well as her early years of adulthood. Contractor studied classical ballet in Toronto. She was also a star academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a fine arts institution that focuses on dance and theater. At 16 and after more than 10 years of dancing, Contractor discovered she was looking to pursue acting seriously. When she graduated from high-school, she was offered a full scholarship for tuition to University of Toronto where she studied theatre with a double diploma in sociology and psychology. Contractor was given the lead role in Pericles after a one-year stint in University. The audition was held for the role at Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. The 92 productions she performed were praised by Canadian theater critics. The actress accepted an invitation to enroll in Stratford's conservatory. This is a course where only four men and eight women are able to take an intensive 20-week course of classical theater. The actor's involvement in the upcoming season's production was confirmed. She received the role in Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
